Since its formation in 1985, the Noble Douglas Dance Company (NDDC) has been at the forefront of Trinidad and Tobago's dance landscape, weaving together traditional Caribbean movement with contemporary techniques. Under the visionary leadership of Noble Douglas, the company has evolved from a small ensemble into an internationally recognized cultural institution that nurtures talent and celebrates Trinidad's rich artistic heritage.

 

Throughout the decades, NDDC continues Noble Douglas's vision of dance as both cultural expression and transformative experience. The company maintains its commitment to artistic excellence while looking toward the future of dance in Trinidad and Tobago.

Early Foundations: 1985

NDDC was formed in 1985 at Barataria, with Noble starting the company while teaching at Queen's Royal College and Village Art Movement.

First Queen's Hall Performance: 1989

Kairi" & "Company Full: 1990

Our debut at this prestigious venue marked our arrival on Trinidad's professional dance scene.

These signature works established our artistic direction and became emblematic of our Caribbean identity.

The 1990s

The early 1990s saw NDDC begin to tour internationally, with performances at the Museum of Modern Art.

All about Collabs: 1996

In 1996, NDDC hosted a mini dance festival featuring Makeda Thomas, Dave Williams, and Marlon Simmons, expanding their artistic community. The following years saw collaborations with artists like Reggie Wilson from New York.

New Directions: 2001-2010

A series of 'firsts'

The new century brought new partnerships, with NDDC members Ablan Babour, Charlene Harris, and Martin La Guerre collaborating with the Little Carib Ballet Press.

By 2007, NDDC had its first-ever event at the Little Theatre with "Noble Included You," while 2008 brought a vibrant Broscoe Holder Dance Project with choreography by Sonja Dumas.
